the president to address before he heads off to the nine-day vacation in martha's vineya vineyard. it's not unusual to see these types of press conferences late summer. congress is gone all month which means republicans and a lot of his critics are gone. the president will have the stage. what will he talk about? he will undoubtedly be asked about canceling this conference, the summit, with vladimir putin with the russian president. why that happened and how much the asylum for edward snowden had to do with that decision. he will also likely be asked to address the terror threats in the middle east. now not just the one that shut down 19 embassies and consulates this week, but a new one that is now shutting down the consulate in lahore in pakistan. that's a separate issue, according to the state department. but clearly concerns throughout that region. egypt, syria, unrest in those regions. what is the appropriate level of u.s. involvement? where does russia stand with the syrian government? all expected to come up today. >> and all very important. >>> nbc news will have live cover

muslim brotherhood this week alone. we go live to martha's vineyard where president obama continues his vacation. any sign from the administration of what they will or even perhaps what they will not do next? >> well, craig, good afternoon. the administration at this point is not signaling any major shift in policy when it comes to egypt. we know that president obama has been briefed daily by his national security adviser susan rice, who is vacationing here on martha's vineyard with him. and of course this past week president obama announced that he would be canceling joint military operations between the u.s. and egypt that were scheduled to take place next month. this was a strong, symbolic rebuke to military for their inability to really get this situation under control in egypt and to get the unrest under control in egypt. but what the administration has not announced is that they will be withholding or withdrawing that $1.3 billion in military aid that they give to egypt every year, and that is really the united states' largest point of leverage at this point in time. it is a compl

hard for me to accept this because i don't think myself and martha did convincing and remember there is always somebody watching. somebody young or old is watching and we have to carry ourselves in a good way because maybe somebody wants to be like us one day. i thank my co-workers for coming. i gave this little speech a couple weeks ago and broke down crying and i said two weeks ago those are my heroes. anybody that can choose to work in health care servicing the people you guys are my heroes. shirley is my hero. she is servicing people and i think that is my message. anybody that chooses to serve people you're awesome. you're all my heroes, and i think i just want to leave a quick little word of what a uncle told me this year is "what -- actually "what is hard is told us to go out everyday and live a beautiful life" and i think if we can do that it's a good world. it's a good thing. so thank you and i thank my family for dancing. that was awesome for me to see. thank you for coming out. thank you lisa for driving all that way and my co-workers -- like i said you're all my her
